GIRNAR SADHANA ASHRAM

Hari Om Tatsat Jai Guru Datta

Experiences in Meditation

When you chant the mystic mantra “Hari Om Tatsat Jai  Guru Datta”, inner purification of the body and the mind starts automatically. This may lead to a number of functional, perceptual and  subtle experiences  by the  chanter (seeker). The type and the intensity of the experience depends of course, mainly, on faith in the mantra, Guru  and your own sadhana-now or earlier.

Functional experiences include rumbling sounds in the abdomen, heaviness in the body or head, back pain, burning sensation, dizziness, slowness in the  respiration, staring eyesight,  non-winking of eyelids  etc. but these reactions last for a few minutes only and  the seeker would  not require any medication.

Perceptual experiences include visualising colours, sages, Gods and  other figures. Sometimes  events like earthquakes, floods, wild animals, reptiles, skeletons may also be seen.

Amongst the subtle experiences are wandering in the universe, listening to instrumental music and faint voices inside the body, feeling peace and enjoyment etc.

All these experiences have a bearing on the different parts of the body and  their purification. These carry subtle meanings also. It is therefore essential to know their meanings from the literature or from a person fully conversant with this process.
